The CDC estimates 17% of the people in the US test positive, and have had exposure to dog or cat roundworms. People acquire infection through accidental ingestion of microscopic roundworm eggs, spread through pet feces. Immune compromised individuals and children are especially at risk. if anyone in your family is diabetic, hypothyroid, AIDS positive, elderly, pregnant, or receiving chemotherapy they are at greater risk.
