through three hospitals and immense advancements in the quality of
veterinary medicine available for the four-legged family members.
As a Veterinary
Technician, my typical day consists of assisting the veterinarians,
surgical prepping, dental cleanings, taking radiographs, doing drug
inventories, and purchasing supplies," Sharon said.
In addition to her
hospital schedule, Sharon also is an animal rescue force to be
reckoned with. Because she lives on a small ranch, she has the room
to do the rescue work that means so much to her.
One of the most
rewarding things for me is to see so many of my foster pets and
bottle babies coming in to see us through the years with their
permanent families," Sharon said. "It is both rewarding and
extremely sad to see a puppy on its first visit, watch it grow and
mature, and to be there to comfort them on their final visit."
Her permanent
four-legged family consists of eight cats, all rescues and country
drop-offs, six dogs ranging from five to 80 lbs, "Peppy Sensation" a
Quarter horse stallion, four broodmares and various chickens, ducks,
geese, guineas and peacocks. There is also almost always a foster
animal or two, or three, staying at the "Rogers Pet Motel" while
awaiting a permanent family of their own.
