Robert W. Stannard, DVM

Dr. Stannard graduated from UC Davis with a BS in Biological Sciences in 1969 and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1973. In 1980 he founded the Adobe Pet Hospital in Livermore. His AAHA accredited hospital is the only veterinary practice in the Bay Area voted “Best of the Best” for 13 years by readers of the Tri-Valley Herald.

Dr. Stannard has completed UC Davis’ Advanced Laser Course and performs Laser Surgery and Video-Otoscopy on patients at his hospital and referral patients from

other clinics throughout the Bay Area. He is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), American Heartworm Society (AHS), Veterinary Surgical Laser Society and House Rabbit Society.

Dr. Stannard is one of a handful of veterinarians selected to be on the National Advisory Council for Novartis Corporation (Novartis International AG is a multinational pharmaceutical company based in Basel, Switzerland and is the forth largest pharmaceutical company in the world). Fellow Council members include Kevin Kazacos, DVM, PhD, Professor of Veterinary Parasitology, Director, Clinical Parasitology Laboratory, School of Veterinary Medicine, Purdue University and Dwight Bowman, PhD, Professor of Parasitology at Cornell University, School of Veterinary Medicine, among others. Dr. Stannard frequently lectures at veterinary meetings throughout the United States with Dr. Kazacos and Dr. Bowman and other invited speakers. He also is a consultant and speaker for other companies in the animal health industry as well. (see “In the News” section on the web site)

In addition to his very busy practice and speaking engagements, Dr. Stannard is the founder, and past president, of the Montair Foundation, Incorporated, a non-profit educational foundation that has raised millions of dollars for public education in California.

He has been married for 35 years, has two children and shares his home with “a blue Oriental cat born in Australia, and a “family room” rabbit, originally found wandering the streets of Livermore!
